You must be over 18 to buy cigarettes in the UK. If you’re under 16 the police have the right to confiscate your cigarettes. It’s illegal: for shops to sell you cigarettes if you are underage.
Can military under 21 buy tobacco?
Tobacco shall not be sold to or by a child under the age of 18 years. Since 1 September 2019, it is explicitly illegal to sell, give, supply or otherwise provide tobacco to individuals under 21, however US Military personnel are exempt.
Can you still consume tobacco under 21?
This legislation (known as “Tobacco 21” or “T21”) is effective immediately, and it is now illegal for a retailer to sell any tobacco product—including cigarettes, cigars, and e-cigarettes—to anyone under 21.
